The Code of Recommended Practice for Local Authorities on Data Transparency
(Pursuant to Section 2 of the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980)
With effect from 28 September 2011. a new code of recommended practice on data transparency applies to parish councils with a gross anuual income or expenditure in excess of £200,000. The code does not replace or supersede the existing framework for access to information provided by exisitng legislation such as the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and the Data Protection Act 1998. The code is intended to ensure that the authorities which are subject to it meet existing statutory obligations and encourages them to proactively publicise more data to increase their accountability to the public.
Expenditure over £500
Saltash Town Council provides an approved schedule of payments at the main meeting of the Council held on the first Thursday of each month. The payments are listed as part of the agenda and all expenditure is listed detailing supplier and transaction information. The Town Council is required to publish details of any senior employees (including job descriptions, responsibilities, budgets and numbers of staff) earning over £58, 200 per annum.
Saltash Town Council has no employees earning in excess of this sum.
Staff Structure and Current Vacancies
The Town Council currently employs five full time staff, eight part time staff and two casual members of staff. Current vacancies can be viewed here
Councillor Allowances and Expenses
Elected Members of the Town Council can claim an allowance to cover their expenses which is currently £200 per annum. The Mayor receives an annual allowance of £4500 to enable him to undertake his duties during his term of office.

The Town Council will always endeavor to obtain best value when awarding contracts. Awarding tenders/contracts are subject to the procedures laid out in Financial Regulations.
Grants to the voluntary community and social enterprise sector
The Town Council sets aside a budget each year to support local organisations (Community Chest) and festivals (Festival Fund) within Saltash.

The Location of Public Land or Building Assets
The Guildhall is owned by the Town Council and is located at 12 Lower Fore Street, Saltash, PL12 4JX. The Town Council also owns 15 - 17 Lower Fore Street (currently leased to Saltash Heritage), Churchtown Cemetery on Farm Lane, Saltash and Trematon Pound.
